COVID-19 REGULATIONS PERMIT LIMITED ACTIVITIES RA to Open Four Pools this Month
Reston Association will open four of its pools – one in each RA district – on June 29. The pools will be open seven days a week and will be accessible to members and non-members who have a valid 2020 Recreation Pass. To comply with state regulations, the pools will only be available for lap swimmers and water walkers who reserve time and for instructional fitness programs. Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s executive order does not permit recreational/open swimming at this time.
“I’d like to thank our members for their patience as we navigate through the governor’s Phase 2 regulations,” said RA CEO, Hank Lynch. “In order to fully form and communicate a safe plan for opening pools, we needed to wait for state and local officials to provide specific guidance.
“We understand how important the pools are to our membership,” said Lynch. “Our staff has worked around the clock towards the goal of opening as many pools as we could in a way that is in compliance with government mandates. We encourage our members to take advantage of all outdoor exercise opportunities as we collectively adjust to new norms during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
The pools to open this month include Lake Newport (North Point District), Newbridge (South Lakes District), Glade (Dogwood/Hunters Woods District) and Golf Course Island (Lake Anne/Tall Oaks District). These aquatics facilities were selected for opening by RA in order to maximize lap swimming and fitness programming.
