The Board of Supervisors will receive a COVID-19 update from our county Health Director Dr. Gloria Addo-Ayensu tomorrow during the Health and Human Services Committee Meeting at 1:30 p.m. You can watch the live stream here. Fortunately, we are still seeing a decline in new cases (albeit a smaller decline) and Fairfax County is expected to be with the rest of the state when Governor Northam transitions Virginia to Phase 3 reopening this Wednesday, July 1.
However, I want to caution all our residents that as restrictions are relaxed that cases will likely increase. With our new freedoms we have to be smart about it. It is essential that we continue to observe social distancing, wear face coverings and stay home when sick. The pandemic is not over and there are lessons to be learned from Texas, Florida, Georgia and other states that reopened early with less stringent public health guidelines. We can continue the gradual reopening but only if we follow public health guidelines.
Please join me for a virtual town hall with FCPD Chief Edwin Roessler on July 1 from 7 to 8 p.m. It is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and provide feedback to both of us. Details on how to participate.
Here are some documents that may be helpful to review prior to the town hall:
You are invited to join me, FCDOT staff and Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust for a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, July 8, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. There will be a presentation highlighting the proposed bus service plan and an opportunity for the public to provide feedback and ask questions. You can join the meeting here.
